Our New York football tour is the perfect way to explore this dynamic city and to play competitive fixtures against local teams. Soccer, as it is called across the Pond, is one of the most popular participatory sports in the US and the MLS is a a league which is becoming better known to us in Europe. Our tours include the opportunity to have a coaching session with New York Red Bulls and to watch a scheduled fixture.
The itinerary featured here is intended to give you inspiration and an idea of what you could do on your tour. Your trip will be created individually by one of our travel advisors to match your requirements and budget.
Flight to New York. Times Square and 42nd Street
Flight to New York: Today you depart on your flight to New York, arriving later the same day. You will be met by your private transport and transfer into the heart of Manhattan and your central hotel accommodation.
Times Square: Once you have settled into your hotel you can travel by subway to Mid-Town to explore the theatre district of 42nd Street and Times Square where there are many options for dinner.
New York Red Bulls Coaching Session and Fixture
New York Red Bulls Coaching Session: This morning you have a coaching session with academy players from the New York Red Bulls soccer team. The visit includes 2 hours coaching, a Q&A session and the opportunity to meet a first team player. Lunch will be included.
Red Bulls Fixture: Subject to scheduling you will also go to a Red Bulls fixture. The Red Bull Arena is actually located across the river in Harrison New Jersey. Matches can take place as early as lunchtime or as late as 9pm so this activity may be switched to an alternate day subject to kick off time.
Yankee Stadium Tour and First Matches
Yankee Stadium Tour: This morning you travel to the Bronx to visit the new Yankee Stadium, home of the New York Yankees baseball team and also home to New York City FC of MLS. The stadium was redeveloped in the early 2000’s adjacent to the site of the original which was used from 1923 to 2008 and which was where the legendary Babe Ruth made his reputation.
First Matches: In the afternoon you have your first fixtures against New York Football Teams
Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge and One World Observatory
Statue of Liberty: This morning you take the ferry to the Statue of Liberty. The Statue of Liberty is one of the most universal symbols of political freedom and democracy. You will have access to the grounds at Liberty Island and access to inside the base of the Statue of Liberty where you can explore the Museum. You continue to Ellis Island where you will visit the Immigration Museum which records the important role this island had in the processing of most of the immigrants to the USA during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
Brooklyn Bridge: This afternoon you take the subway across the river to Brooklyn for a view of the city’s most iconic bridge from Brooklyn Bridge Park where the skyline view of New York is unforgettable. After taking photos you can walk the pedestrian walkway across the Brooklyn Bridge and back into Lower Manhattan. This is a boardwalk which runs above the traffic and so there are no cars to worry about. Spend your time on this and enjoy the iconic views.
One World Observatory: Back in Lower Manhattan, take the high speed elevator to the top of the World Trade Centre to the One World Observatory for a phenomenal view of New York from the city’s tallest building.
Ground Zero Tour and Museum, Second Matches
Ground Zero: This morning you visit the 9/11 Memorial Museum, located at Ground Zero and built into the original foundations of the Twin Towers. The museum documents the events of September 11, 2001 using artefacts from the towers and rescue services, as well as personal testimony, both written and recorded.
Second Matches: In the afternoon you have your second fixtures against New York Football Teams
Museum of Modern Art & Third Matches
Museum of Modern Art: This morning you visit MoMa – the Museum of Modern Art. This is one of the World’s great art galleries and the most famous pieces in the collection include Monet’s Water Lilies, Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night. There are also classic works by Andy Warhol including Campbell’s Soup and Marilyn Monroe.
Third Matches: In the afternoon you have your thirdfixtures against New York Football Teams
Free Day. Evening flight home
Free Day: Today is free for your own activities or alternatively we can arrange visits for part or all of the day. This could include options as diverse as the Museum of Natural History or the Aircraft Carrier Intrepid where you can see Concorde and the Space Shuttle. You should also allow for time to souvenir shop on Fifth Avenue or in Macy’s iconic department store.
Flight Home: In the evening you transfer to the airport for your homeward flight.
Arrive Home: Your flight arrives back home today.
