Choir Tour to Split
Our Croatia Choir Tour visits the Adriatic city of Split, a congenial city with a characterful old town. The city has a Roman heritage, and the Emperor Diocletian who was born in Dalmatia, built a palace here. More recently, a number of locations have been used as settings for the Game of Throne’s series including the Fortress of Kliss and the Cathedral in Sibenik which is also one of our possible performance venues. There are numerous excursions to enjoy such as the beautiful island town of Trogir, and opportunities for boat trips and beach time.
Suggested Itinerary
The itinerary featured here is intended to give you inspiration and an idea of what you could do on your tour. Your trip will be created individually by one of our travel advisors to match your requirements and budget.
Day 1
Flight to Split. Rehearsal time and exploring the city.
Flight to Split: You are met on arrival by your guide and private transport and transfer to your hotel. Located on Croatia’s Adriatic coast, this region of Dalmatia was part of the Roman Empire and the birthplace of the Emperor Diocletian who ruled between AD 284 and AD 305. The remnants of his fortress are one of the main tourist attractions and is now a UNESCO world heritage site. St Dominus Cathedral is also located here, and you can climb the Bell Tower for a great view of the city.
Rehearsal Time: After lunch you have rehearsal time and in the later afternoon can also walk along the Riva, Split’s waterfront promenade, with its trendy restaurants, coffee shops, palm trees and super-yachts.
Evening: This evening you have dinner at a city centre restaurant in the old town area.

Day 2
Explore Split Old Town and First Performance at Diocletian's Palace
Exploring Split Old Town: This morning you explore the maze of narrow streets and alleys that surrounds Diocletian’s Palace and which constitutes the Old Town. People’s Square is the heart of the old town where cafes and restaurants spill out onto the square. There will be time for lunch at one of the many pleasant eateries.
First Performance: After lunch you have your first performance at Diocletian’s Palace. There is a seated area that can take up to 200 people and is regularly used for performances.
Afternoon and evening: You have free time in Split before dinner at a city centre restaurant.

Day 3
Rehearsal time and Second Performance in Sibenik
Rehearsal Time: Time will be allocated this morning for rehearsal, before travelling by road one hour to the small town of Sibenik.
Second Performance: After time for lunch, you have your second performance in the Cathedral of St James which dates from the 1400’s and is regarded by many as the most beautiful Gothic building in Dalmatia. Subsequent additions have added baroque elements to the elaborate interior. The Cathedral has also featured in the Game of Thrones films.
Afternoon and evening: If the weather permits, we will be able to go to a nearby beach before returning to Split and dinner at a city centre restaurant.

Day 4
Third Performance in Trogir
Trogir: In the morning we travel to the small town of Trogir which is actually located on an island connected to the mainland by a short causeway. Trogir is another UNESCO World heritage site, and its old town is charming with narrow cobbled streets, limestone buildings and a wide seafront promenade. The entire town is a historical monument with a considerable number of churches, fortification towers and palaces.
Third Performance: After lunch you have your third performance in Trogir which could take place in one of the churches or there are various public squares which we can use, depending on the time of year and repertoire.
Afternoon and evening: There will be time to explore at leisure, and an optional boat trip could be included, before returning to Split where you have dinner at a city restaurant.

Day 5
Klis Fortress and beach time. Fly Home.
Klis Fortress and beach: In the morning we take a trip to the Fortress of Klis which featured in season 4 of Game of Thrones. You can explore the fort and look out across the shimmering Adriatic Sea. There may also be time to visit a local beach.
