Exploring the Galapagos

The many islands of the Galapagos all have their own unique characteristics, which is what makes the archipelago so special.   In a short trip it’s just about impossible to visit every island, so our programs are designed to take you to the best locations and make best use of your time.

  • Day 1

    Fly to Quito

    You depart the US today for your flight to Quito arriving the same day. You are met on arrival and transfer to your hotel.

  • Day 2


    Today is a full day in Quito. You will be able to explore the Old City with its UNESCO World Heritage Spanish colonial architecture, and also visit the Middle of the World monument which marks the line of the Equator.

  • Day 3

    Fly to the Galapagos

    This morning we return to the airport and take the flight to Baltra in the Galapagos. On arrival we transfer by road to Santa Cruz island and our accommodation in the main town of Puerto Ayora. In the afternoon we walk to the beautiful white sands of Tortuga Bay where we can see Sea Lions and Marine Iguana.

  • Day 4

    Bartolome Island

    Today we take a boat trip to Bartolome Island where we can hike in the lunar volcanic landscape and see the famous Pinnacle Rock. On Bartolome you can see the Galapagos penguin, sea lions, sea turtles, flamingos, Galapagos hawks and various migratory birds.

  • Day 5

    Floreana Island

    Today we visit Floreana Island, also known as Narborough Island. In the 1700's British whalers used to stop here and they set up makeshift Post Office to send letters home on passing ships. This tradition has continued to this day and you can still just drop a post card or letter into the barrel without a stamp. To make this system work, you have to take a post card from the barrel and see that it is delivered!

  • Day 6

    Travel to Isabella Island

    This morning we visit the Charles Darwin Research Centre on Santa Cruz which includes a breeding programme for the Galapagos Giant Tortoise. In the afternoon we board a speed boat and travel to Isabella Island.

  • Day 7

    Isabella Island

    This morning we visit the highlands and the volcanoes of Sierra Negra & Sierra Chico. After lunch we return to the coast and to Concha y Perla which is a beautiful lagoon where it is possible to swim with turtles.

  • Day 8

    Isabella Island

    Today we take part in a conservation project working with the Giant Galapagos Tortoise.

  • Day 9

    Return to Santa Cruz

    Today we return to Santa Cruz and in the afternoon you have a Bay tour.

  • Day 10


    Today you travel to Baltra Airport for the flight back to Quito.

  • Day 11

    Depart Quito

    Depending on the flight departure time there may be an opportunity for sight seeing and last minute souvenir shopping before transferring to the airport for the homeward flight.
