  • Day 1

    Depart from home

    Today you depart on your flight to Venice. Flights can be arranged from your chosen departure airport

  • Day 2

    Arrive in Venice

    You arrive in Venice today and on arrival will be met by your guide and transfer to your central hotel on Venice Island. Venice exudes charm and your students will be enthralled by its iconic sights and its wonderful galleries. Situated in the famous lagoon, where canals take the place of roads, the local vaporetto water taxis convey you between the various attractions.

  • Day 3

    Walking Tour of Venice

    Today you explore some of Venice’s most famous and iconic landmarks, where opportunities abound for making impromptu sketches. You begin at one of Venice’s most iconic sites – the famous white marble Rialto Bridge which spans the Grand Canal. Your next stop is St. Mark’s Square where you’ll take some time to soak up the atmosphere The main attraction is St. Mark’s Basilica where the views over Piazza San Marco and the city and canals beyond are spectacular. Your tour continues to the Doge’s Palace, built in the Venetian gothic style and famous for its frescoed walls and gilded ceilings. Your tour ends at the Bridge of Sighs, so named for the convicted prisoners who, it is said, took their last look at Venice and couldn’t help but sigh. Undoubtedly the finest way to experience Venice is on a gondola ride and our day will finish with a ride down the famous Grand Canal.

  • Day 4

    Classical Art in Venice

    Today you focus on classical art and commence your day at the Galleria dell'Accademia which boasts a stunning array of religious and baroque art. The greats of Venetian Renaissance art from are represented here, including Veneziano, Bellini and Titian. Venice's largest collection of 18th century art is located in the Ca'Rezzonico. This baroque palace on the Grand Canal displays three floors of paintings and sculpture. Other highlights include the palace's grand staircase. In the afternoon you have a vaporetto trip to the island of Murano where you can visit one of the famous glass blowing factories.

  • Day 5

    Contemporary Art in Venice

    Today you focus on Contemporary Art and in particular two important collections which are within a short stroll of each other. You begin with a visit to the Punta Della Dogna di Mare, generally regarded as one of the best contemporary art collections in Venice and where the collections are changed regularly. You can break for lunch by the Grand Canal before continuing to the Peggy Guggenheim. Like its namesake in New York, the Peggy Guggenheim is famous for contemporary modernist 20th century art from North America and Europe. Works by artists as diverse as Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock and Kandinsky can be seen here. Art represented here includes cubism, surrealism and abstract expressionism. Peggy Guggenheim was a niece of Solomon Guggenheim who founded the iconic gallery in New York and continued his support for the new wave artists of the early 20th century.

  • Day 6

    Free in Venice

    Today is a free day for you to explore Venice at your leisure. You can stroll through St. Mark’s Square and the neighbouring streets or perhaps doing some last minute souvenir hunting.

  • Day 7

    Fly Home

    This morning you transfer back to Venice airport for your homeward flight.
