Florence & Tuscany Art Tour

Long favoured by the early Victorians on their Grand Tour of European cities, Florence hosts some of the finest Renaissance art in Europe including Michaelangelo’s famous statue of David which stands in the Galleria Accademia. Our tour also includes a visit to the unmissable Leaning Tower of Pisa and the town of Lucca.

  • Day 1

    Departure from the US

    Today you depart on your flight to Italy. Flights can be arranged from your chosen departure airport.

  • Day 2

    Arrive in Tuscany - Transfer to Florence

    You arrive at Pisa Tuscany Airport where your guide will meet you on arrival and transfer to your hotel in Florence. After check in and time for lunch there will be a guided walking tour of the old city. You then have time to explore Florence on your own. Don't forget to cross the famous Ponte Vecchio, an original medieval bridge which still has small shops built across it.

  • Day 3

    Florence - Duomo and Galleria Accademia

    This morning you have a guided tour of the Duomo, the famous Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. After exploring its magnificent interior, you have the option of climbing the 463 steps to the cupola. On the interior of the dome you can admire Giorgio Vasari's frescoes of the Last Judgment, and from the top you have a spectacular view across the red-tiled roof tops of Florence. You can also climb up to the top of the adjoining bell tower. In the afternoon you can explore the Accademia gallery which contains Michelangelo’s magnificent marble sculptures including the famous Statue of David, as well as works of art by several famous Italian artists including Boticelli, many of which were commissioned by the powerful Medici family.

  • Day 4

    Florence - The Uffizi

    This morning you begin at the Uffizi, the most famous gallery in Florence originally built for the Medicis as a private repository of art. Situated near the Arno River and the Ponte Vecchio, the building became a public gallery as long ago at 1765 and today houses an incredible collection of paintings including artists such as Bellini, Boticelli, Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci. The afternoon is free for sightseeing on your own.

  • Day 5

    Leaning Tower of Pisa

    This morning you travel to Pisa where you can visit the famous Leaning Tower, the bell tower of the city’s cathedral which began its gentle incline almost as soon as it was built. Also included in your entrance ticket are admissions to the cathedral, the Baptistry and the Museum.

  • Day 6

    Montecatini & Lucca

    Today you visit the spa town of Montecatini and the historic town of Lucca with its medieval architecture.

  • Day 7

    Fly Home

    Today you travel to the airport for your homeward flight, or continue your tour to other parts of Italy
