Rome is a city which cannot fail to captivate your students. It’s monuments are iconic and the city has a special charm which is best discovered on foot, whether wandering through the delightful Piazza Navona or the markets of Campo dei Fiori

  • Day 1

    Depart from home

    Today you depart on your flight to Rome. Flights can be arranged from your chosen departure airport.

  • Day 2

    Arrive in Rome

    On arrival you are met and transfer to your city center hotel. Depending on the arrival time, you may have an opportunity to visit the Castle St. Angelo which was built as a mausoleum for the Emperor Hadrian.

  • Day 3

    The Vatican - City of the Popes

    This morning you visit the Vatican where you can discover the incredible art works in its museums and see Michelangelo's ornate ceiling in the Sistine Chapel. We then make our way into St. Peter's Basilica and may be able to ascend to the cupola for an impressive view across the city. In the afternoon you do a guided walking tour of ancient Rome, visiting some of the most famous landmarks including the Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain and ending at the Spanish Steps. If you did not visit on the previous day, you can also explore the Castel St. Angelo.

  • Day 4

    Tarquinia - Etruscan Tombs

    Today you travel outside of the city for a full day to visit the town of Tarquinia. One of the most important of the Etruscan cities, today it is famous for its incredible necropolis - the Etruscan Tombs with their elaborate frescoes. There is also a fascinating museum which houses art from the period. In the afternoon there will be time to explore the town with its pleasant square and street cafes before returning to Rome.

  • Day 5

    Colosseum and Roman Forum

    This morning you have a guided tour of the Colosseum before making your way past the Arch of Constantine and into the Roman Forum. After lunch you can see Trajan's Column and may be able to ascend the famous Vittorio Emmanuel monument for a birds-eye view of the city

  • Day 6

    Capitoline Museums and Via Appia

    This morning you visit the famous Capitoline Museums which house some of the finest treasures in Rome, including the bronze statue of Romulus and Remus with the she-wolf. In the afternoon you visit the Via Appia with its Roman road and ancient catacombs.

  • Day 7

    Ostia Antica

    This morning you visit the fascinating Roman city of Ostia Antica which used to function as the port city for Rome. The city is incredibly well preserved with a theatre, forum and many houses with mosaic floors still intact.

  • Day 8

    Depart from Rome

    You depart today on your homeward flight

It is located in an upscale district between the leafy Colle Oppio Park and the Via Merulana and within an 8 minute walk of the Colosseum and its metro station. The area is very quiet and without traffic noise but it has quick access to a range of shops and restaurants which are within a 5 minute walk on the Via Merulana.

High season rates make this an unlikely contender for a school trip, but if you travel during low season this may be one to consider.  The location is perfect with many of Rome’s key sites within close walking distance.
