  • Day 1

    Depart from home

    Today you depart on your flight to Athens. Flights can be arranged from your chosen departure airport

  • Day 2

    Arrive in Athens

    You arrive in Athens where you are met on arrival by your guide and private transport and transfer two hours to the port town of Nafplio with its narrow cobblestone streets. Along the route you stop at the site of Ancient Corinth where you see the oldest Doric temple on mainland Greece. You arrive at your hotel in Nafplio for dinner.

  • Day 3

    Tiryns, Mycenae and Epidaurus

    Today you discover the ancient civilization of Mycenae on the Argolid Plain of the Peloponnese where you can learn about the Greece of Homer. Tiryns is an ancient citadel with huge walls and tunnels while Mycenae was reputedly Agamemnon’s capital. Its finest features are the Treasury of Atreus and Lion Gate. In the afternoon you visit Epidaurus, famous for being the best-preserved of all Greek theaters.

  • Day 4


    You start the day with a spectacular view of Nafplio from the Fortress of Palamidi, built in the 18th century by the Venetians. You then depart Nafplio and drive across the Peloponnese peninsular through the region known as Arcadia. Along the way you visit the 5th century Temple of Apollo before continuing to Olympia.

  • Day 5


    This morning you visit Olympia, the site of the original Olympic games in the 8th century BC. The site and its ruins include athletic training areas and a stadium. There are also temples dedicated to the gods Hera and Zeus and a museum which contains some of the most important classical Greek art. Leaving Olympia you continue by road across the spectacular bridge which links the Peloponnese which the rest of Greece and drive to Delphi.

  • Day 6


    Situated on the slopes of Mount Parnassos, Delphi is perhaps the most famous of ancient Greek sites. The Sanctuary of Apollo was the seat of the oracle which was consulted on important decisions and attracted pilgrims from all over the ancient classical world. After lunch you visit the mosaics at Hosios Loukas before continuing by road to Athens.

  • Day 7


    This morning is dedicated to exploring Athens with a driving tour through the main streets, passing by the most important monuments and landmarks of the city including Constitution square, the Academy, the National library, the Presidential residence, the Panathinaikon marble stadium, Adrian’s arch and the temple of Zeus. The drive will bring you to the very heart of Athens, at Athinas street, with its markets and shops. You continue by foot to the Monastiraki area with the famous flea market where you will have some free time for shopping. After lunch you head up to the Acropolis for your visit to the site, including the Propylae, the temple of Athena Nike, the Parthenon, and the Erechtheion. In the evening you will visit the lively Plaka area to enjoy a dinner with music and a folk dance show.

  • Day 8


    You begin this morning at the Theater of Dionysos where plays by Sophocles were first performed. You also visit the Agora and its temple. In the afternoon you can visit the National Archaeological Museum which contains the finest collection of Greek art and artefacts to be found anywhere.

  • Day 9

    Depart Athens

    This morning you visit the 5th century Temple of Poseidon at Sounion which overlooks the sea at the tip of the Attic peninsula. You then continue to the airport for your homeward flight.
