If there is one artist who is synonymous with the Vienna Secession Movement it is Gustav Klimt and you can see many of his most famous pieces in the collection at the Belvedere

  • Day 1

    Depart from home

    Today you depart on your flight to Vienna. Flights can be arranged from your chosen departure airport.

  • Day 2

    Arrive in Vienna

    Today you arrive in Vienna where you will be met on arrival by your guide and transfer directly to your hotel in the center of Vienna. In the afternoon there will be a guided walking tour of the city, taking in some of the historical landmarks. Dinner will be at a city center restaurant and in the evening you can visit the famous Wiener Riesenrad in Prater Amusement Park. This iconic ferris wheel was built in 1897 and famously featured in the Orson Welles film The Third Man and you can follow in the footsteps of Harry Lime.

  • Day 3

    Vienna - Classical & Modern

    In the morning you visit Schonbrunn Palace, the 'Versailles of Austria' and the official residence of the Hapsburg Emperors until Austria became a republic at the end of the First World War. Besides exploring the ornately furnished residential and ceremonial rooms of the Imperial Family, there are also extensive and exquisite gardens which include a maze and labyrinth. After lunch you visit the Hundertwasser House and Museum, a unique apartment building created in the 1980’s by the designer Friedensreich Hundertwasser and architect Joseph Krawina. The building is one of Vienna's most visited attractions and part of Austria's cultural heritage. You also visit the adjoining museum which displays some of Hundertwasser’s art work.

  • Day 4

    Klimt and Schiele at the Belvedere

    In the morning there will be a walking tour which will reveal some of the history and iconic architectural styles in Vienna. In the afternoon you visit the baroque Belvedere Palace which houses Austrian art from the Middle Ages to the present day. At the heart of the collections are the works of Gustav Klimt with his famous paintings The Kiss and Judith. There are also a number of works by the Austrian artist Egon Shiele.

  • Day 5

    The Albertina

    In the morning you visit the Albertina which houses the largest and most valuable graphical collections in the world, with works such as Dürer’s “Hare” and Klimt's studies of women. Other temporary exhibitions include masterpieces spanning Monet to Picasso and Baselitz. As the largest of the Hapsburg residential palaces, the Albertina dominates the southern tip of the Imperial Palace on one of the last remaining fortress walls in Vienna.

  • Day 6

    Fly Home

    Today you depart from Vienna for your flight home, or continue your tour in Europe
