Costa Rica Trips

Forming the narrow Isthmus between the Pacfic and Caribbean, Costa Rica has a wealth of biodiverity

By Central American standards, it is a truly unique place . Besides being one of the oldest and most stable democracies in the region, it also has no standing army, having formally and permanently abolished it in 1949. Costa Rica is country rich in biodiversity and its extensive tropical forests are home to a wide range of plant and animal life.  There are classically shaped volcanoes and swift flowing rivers, and a coastline with gorgeous beaches and luxurious resorts.

Costa Rica is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire and has five active volcanoes within its boundaries. The most spectacular of these is Arenal, although the last major eruption was in 1998. Costa Rica is an ideal destination for ecotourism and adventure. There are a number of excellent national parks to visit, and the opportunities for outdoor activities include surfing, scuba, white water rafting and jungle hiking.

One must-see destination is the famous ‘Sky Trek’ Monteverde Cloud Forest Canopy Tour with its exciting elevated walkways and zip wires.  You need a head for heights for this, but the rewards are a spectacular aerial view of the forests and a truly adrenalin-charged experience!
